While Sun will tell you that 90% of performance problems in Solaris 10 are from customers improperly tuning the kernel, good luck convincing your DBA. So the below will allow you to do so with only an outage to the application/DB and not the OS. Just be sure to modify the /etc/system so it keeps when you do finally reboot.
